ISQua approves COHSASA’s Surveyor Training Programme

At the ISQua Executive Board meeting in February 2012, ISQua Accreditation for COHSASA’s Surveyor Training Programme was endorsed and approved for four years, effective from February 2012 to January 2016. The announcement coincided with the first batch of five surveyor trainees who attended a course at COHSASA in Cape Town. They had come from Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Amsterdam for the training and proudly received their certificates on completing the five-day course.

Interested stakeholders gathered at meetings at COHSASA headquarters in both August and October 2011 to begin the process of developing an accreditation programme for General and Family Practitioners in South Africa.

COHSASA to Work in Namibian Hospitals

COHSASA has met with the Namibian Ministry of Health and Social Services to discuss the implementation of a quality improvement programme using CoQIS at two hospitals and a community health centre in Namibia. The discussions are part of a subagreement between COHSASA and Management Science for Health (MSH) and USAID. The hospitals involved are the 830-bed Intermediate Katutura Hospital, the Windhoek Central Hospital in Namibia and a health centre.
